My Son on the Newspaper

My son visited the prefectural police academy to have a job recture. He had a media interview there and the article with picture was on today's newspaper. 

He said to the reporter that he could understand the work of police because he had the job training event. He said that he wanted to be a policeman more than before.

Police Academy

My younger son went to an open campus event of the prefectural police academy. Young people who want to be a police officer visit to the event. He always says he will be a motorcycle policeman. 

There were some demonstrations in the event. A police helicopter landed and took off the heliport there. He had a criminal identification experience like TV dramas. He got into a police car, a Legacy. 

He said that he had a good experience today and had a strongly desire to be a police officer.

Police Applicants Dropping

The number of police applicants in Japan has been decreasing since 2010. Japan's economy has improved, so younger people can get better jobs easier than before. They are tend to avoid hard and dangerous work. That is one of the reasons of the reducing. 

Each prefectural police department is trying to get more applicants because they want more suitable police officers. For example, some prefectures allow applicants by the age of 35 years old and others removed the limit of the applicants' height. 

Police officers have kept our country secure. I hope lots of young people will get interested in the important job.

A miracle

This story comes from my wife who works at a shop in a local general hosoital. An old man came into the shop in a wheelchair with his wife. She said he had severe brain damage and became paralyzed on his right side. He was a former policeman and after retireing he worked as a security guard. His right side cannnot move anymore except for only one thing. He proudly gave my wife a smile and a perfect beautiful salute with his right hand!
