A Closed Market

A fishing market has just closed in my city and we have only one market here now. At first, the closed fishing market was the second largest fishing maker in Shimane prefecture. There have been lots of fishing boats, thousands of fishermen and buyers around the market many years ago, but fishing resources have been decreasing in recent several decades. As a result, many fishing companies have stopped operating.
There are still some fishing boats which use the port next to the market. They have to bring the fish they catch to another market by truck. Old residents in the town might miss the lively old market.

The 15th Typhoon

A big typhoon Goni is heading to Japan after leaving disasters in the Philippines and Taiwan.
The weather report said that it will reach Japan's main island tomorrow morning. I work for fishery industry, so that will cause many problems. Fishermen can not catch fish several days and few fish will able to be sold in the fish market. That causes higher fish prices.
Aside from that, I hope there won't happen more disasters because of the typhoon.

Tuna Fishing

Tuna fishing in the Japanese sea has just started. The first tuna auction was held at Sakaiminato fishing market in Tottori prefecture today.
The fishing season of tuna in the Japanese sea in the summer lasts two months. The length of time is one month shorter than previous year for protecting tuna resources. Many natural conservation groups criticize the tuna fishing in the area because these tuna gather here for spawning. They say the fishing may harm tuna resources.
I'm also against the fishing even though I work for fishing industry here. The fishing boats based on Sakaiminato port can fish 1,800 tons this season. That's too much.

Tuna

I bought a tuna which weigh 40 kg. I filleted the tuna in four blocks. Tuna fishing in the Japanese sea in this season is controversial for some reasons. I don't want to deal tuna, but I have to do that because that's my business.

Tuna Fishing in The Japanese Sea

Tuna fishing season in Sakaiminato port, Tittori Prefecture, has just started. Sakaiminato fishing markets deal the largest amount of fresh tuna in Japan.
Fishing boats caught 70 tons of tuna from the Japanese sea on the first day of this year. Fishermen, middlemen and workers in the markets were glad for the catch but I wasn't happy about that even though I work for a fishery company. There are some reasons that I have to oppose tuna fishing at this time.
First, in this season, tuna gather around the area for spawning. Off the coast of Sakaiminato is their spawning place.
Second, they catch too many tuna at one time with a huge round haul net. They catch as much tuna as the Ohma region in Aomori Prefecture does in one year.
I'm sure these things are the reason for reduction of tuna in the Japanese sea. The authorities should ban tuna fishing there in this season.
