This Day 150 Years Ago

I happened to see an issue of old news paper of today's date on the Internet. Tha paper was the New York Times and it said "Victory!", "Peace!". Today, April 10, was the day of the end of the American Civil War.
On this day 150 years ago, Confederate General Robert E. Lee surraunded to Union General Ulysses S. Grant and that meant the official ending of the American Civil War. The war had lasted four years and lost about 500,000 people.
General Grant said, " The war is over. The rebels are our countrymen again." The Confederate troops were pardoned and they even allowed to back home with their horses and arms. I really admire the winner's forgiveness to the former enemies.
